Of course, if you are a student, you
can just call me Mr. Kootman. I am currently a fourth
grade teacher at Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary School on
Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. I
have been teaching for almost 7 years now and have
experience in Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7. I am also
our school's technology coordinator, so if you have any
"tech" questions, feel free to ask me.
I am originally from
coastal New Jersey. I received my bachelors degree
in psychology from Salisbury University in Maryland and
received my teaching credential from California State
University San Marcos. I also have a
master's degree in educational technology. I'm a GATE consultant for
Mary Fay Pendleton, a Discovery Education STAR Educator
and a member of the Discovery Educator Network
California Leadership Council. I work with our
district technology committee and the board of Computer
Using Educators (CUE) to further the reaches of
educational technology. Additionally, I am a
technology
consultant for a few companies and school districts,
where I help others increase their productivity with
technology.
I not only teach
in Oceanside, but I live here as well. I love to go for
walks with my dog,
Logic. If you have a tennis ball, he'll be your best
friend! I love sports and have
traveledall over the globe doing
the athletic activities I love. Ask me about them
sometime :) Most of the time you can find me surfing at Oceanside Harbor. You can also take a look
at my Flickr page.
If you have any questions on how to
use technology to make your life easier, feel free to
call or email me!
Dave Kootman
also trains teachers and administrators on how to use
technology in their schools. Visit

This
is a
link to my first attempt at video production
(2006) using
Microsoft Movie Maker. If you have
windows XP, then you have Movie Maker already and can
begin editing your own videos! It's simple! The
video is pretty rough and the acting is poor, but maybe
you'll be amused :)
